Will 2010 be the year for Blink-182?
Blink-182 has been on an “indefinite hiatus” since 2005 and a last release in 2003. There has been chatter a new album will drop some time in 2010.
At the 2009 Grammys, the trio announced they have been working in the studio on new material since December 2008. The band has made a point to keep talk to a minimum about the details of the album. In a statement to MTV, guitarist Tom DeLonge said the album is “the most ambitious songwriting and art that we’ve ever made.”
The album remains untitled and no tracklist has been leaked. The official release date has yet to be set. Speculation still remains as band members DeLonge and Hoppus’ opposite exchange of words leaves fans in a daze. DeLonge reported to MTV that the goal was 2011. Bandmate Mark Hoppus tweeted that 2011 was “too far away,” and promised Blink-182’s fanbase he would “do all I can to have a Blink-182 album in 2010.”
This is simple guys. If you are in fact working on an album, be realistic about when it will be completely finished. If this back and forth nonsense continues, where does that leave the fans? It leaves them frustrated and they might not be interested in the new album when it finally is a physical reality!
